maine Explorer 2017

Dates: August 31-September 4, 2017

Cost: $1000* per person + Airfare

*$300 non-refundable but transferable deposit due at registration.  Remaining balance is due 60 days prior to arrival.

Celebrate Labor Day weekend on a personal development retreat to the newest US National Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in Maine.  Walk in the steps of Thoreau, hike the terminus of the Appalachian Trail and raft the famous Penobscot River.  Throw in conversation, personal reflection and lobster, and you've got a weekend that can change your life.

The activity itinerary is below.  Additionally, each day is bookended with content and conversation based on our Identity Driven Leadership Course and the Clifton StrengthsFinder. Certificates of Completion are available for continuing education credit as requested.


Day 1: Thursday, Aug 31

Arrive in Maine.  Ground transportation from the airport (Portland or Bangor) to New England Outdoor Center (NEOC) will be coordinated.  Get settled into your cove side cabin before heading over to the River Driver's Restaurant for a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Friday, Sep 1

After breakfast, enjoy a discussion on Identity, Strengths and Shame and how it shapes our lives.  Spend the rest of the afternoon, canoeing, paddle boarding, exploring the local area or simply resting.  All meals are provided at the River Driver's Restaurant.

Day 3: Saturday, Sep 2

After an early breakfast, we will depart for Baxter State Park and Roaring Brook campground to begin the all day hike up Mt. Katahdin.  Bag lunch will be provided.  After taking in the vistas, streams and wild life of the park, it's back to NEOC for dinner, check-in and star gazing.

Day 4: Sunday, Sep 3

Day 4 begins with a group check-in and breakfast at River Drivers Restaurant.  Following some thoughts on courage, we're off to the famous Penobscot River.  Enjoy world class rafting and a riverside lunch, while you take in views of the newest US National Park.  In the afternoon it's back to NEOC for discussion, rest and a lobster dinner to cap the weekend.

Day 5: Monday, Sep 4

Breakfast, group check-in and then departure to airports.
